The holidays are all about giving, and Snoop Dogg got into the act on Thursday, giving the best present he can -- some musical cheer. The iconic rap star, along with his West Coast mate Kurupt, performed at L.A. hotspot Area for a party that doubled as both club promoter Brent Bolthouse's birthday soiree and a fund-raiser for Covenant House California, an organization that, since 1988, has helped more than 145,000 homeless youths.

And while the night -- which saw Smashbox Cosmetics offer a lifetime supply of makeup to the first person to donate $5,000 to Covenant House -- was about the spirit of the season, the D-O-double-G made sure it was a party first and foremost. Taking the stage --actually a transformed DJ booth -- shortly after midnight, he opened with 'Dance Wit Me.' Snoop, performing before a crowd that included 30 Seconds to Mars, Britney Spears, Matthew Perry and Nick Cannon, among others, was in a playful mood, asking the hand-waving, bumping and grinding crowd, "What's my favorite drink?" before launching into 'Gin And Juice.' He also offered his collaboration with Akon, 'I Wanna Love You,' which he dedicated to all the ladies.

To the question "What's my favorite leafy green plant," surely mistletoe would have been choice number two.
