Earlier this month, Smoke DZA and Pete Rock announced their collaborative project, Don’t Smoke Rock, was in the works and delivered the set’s first single, “Limitless” featuring Dave East. The dynamic duo are back with another track called “Milestone” featuring Styles P, Jadakiss and the soulful vocals of BJ the Chicago Kid.

Over a piano loop, a plodding beat and DMC vocal scratches, DZA, Kiss and the Ghost rap reflective bars about achieving success through the gritty streets of New York. Jadakiss has the standout verse as he reflects on his struggle to get out the hood and get put on in the rap game.

"Success is a process / You got to do that slow / Before I blew all a n---- knew was move that blow," he raps, adding, "Write a verse everyday and just pursue that flow / Without the risk, the reward is just do that show / Cream on top of the cream, just call it dough à la Mode / Left the drugs in the hood and took my show on the road."

Overall, "Milestone" is a classic boom-bap banger with insightful lyrics from three of New York's versatile spitters.

Smoke DZA and Pete Rock's album, Don't Smoke Rock, will arrive in stores on Dec. 2. The collection will features guest appearances from Cam'ron, Rick Ross, Big K.R.I.T., Royce 5’9″, Mac Miller and others.
