Sly and the Family Stone have been an influential force in music since they broke out in the late '60s. Their music has not only gotten them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but they were also named one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time by Rolling Stone.

But apparently inspiring and progressing the development of funk and soul music wasn't enough to get them a Grammy Award. However in 2007, John Legend, Joss Stone and Van Hunt won the R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal Grammy in 2007, for their version of 'Family Affair.' In 2006, the Grammys paid tribute to the group, which is a fair consolation, right?
