Former Bad Boy rapper Shyne has released a statement refuting Sean "Diddy" Combs' recent claims that the two spoke while Shyne was incarcerated. Shyne, born Jamal Barrow, was recently released from prison, but is still being held in detention until a decision has been made about the status of his citizenship.

Ten years ago, Shyne, Combs' deep-voiced protege of the moment, took the fall for a club shooting that left three people injured. Over the years, Combs claims to have maintained a relationship with Shyne, having said recently that he anticipates the release of the Belize-born MC.

"It's a blessing that [Shyne is] coming home," Diddy told DJ Absolut in an interview on Hot 97. "I spoke with him a couple weeks ago. He sounded like he was in good spirits. I know he can't wait to get home. And I know he's definitely gonna heat the whole scene up."

According to Shyne, however, this conversation never happened. "My client wants to make it very clear that no such conversation between Mr. Combs and he ever occurred," said Shyne's lawyer, Oscar Michelen, because Shyne refuses to speak with Combs.

"I want it known that this supposed conversation is a figment of Sean Combs' imagination," Shyne stated via his lawyer. "He never spoke with me, he never visited me nor would I ever accept a phone call or visit from him. The only way I would do either of those things would be if he stepped up and did the right thing for the victims of the incident."

Apparently Shyne and Diddy have had bad blood for some time. "Knowing how he feels about Mr. Combs I know that it would have been very strange for Shyne to have spoken with him and not told anyone," Michelen explained.
