Sampha Releases His Take on Drake’s ‘Too Much’

Subscribe to TheBoombox on

Sampha, the man behind the voice on Drake’s ‘Too Much’ steps out with his own version of the song.

‘Too Much,’ off the rapper’s platinum-selling album, ‘Nothing Was the Same,’ was a standout track, mainly for the sample used for the melody and the featured vocals from London singer Sampha.

Taking away the heavy 808 beat that gave ‘Too Much’ an edge, we’re able to hear Sampha’s raw vocals over a stimulating piano progression. Although the track is just shy of three minutes long, Sampha’s emotions are felt as he touches on the beginning stages of a blossoming love and the fear of rushing into a relationship.

Hear more from Sampha when he drops his AA-sided single ‘Too Much/Happens’ on Nov. 12 via Young Tusk Music. The soulful singer penned the lyrics with production help from Emilie Haynie.
