Just two days after Dylann Roof was charged with federal hate crimes, which stemmed from him killing nine black people during bible study in a South Carolina church, a similar act of gun violence marred a community in Lafayette, La., on Thursday night (July 23).

According to USA Today, John Russell Houser went to a movie theater armed with a .40 caliber handgun and opened fired. The shooting occurred during a screening of Trainwreck with about 300 people inside the entire Grand 16 theater at the time.

Houser shot and killed two people and wounded 11 others inside the theater before he reloaded and killed himself, according to Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft.

Although Houser reportedly was a right-wing blogger and Tea Party member, authorities have no motive for the shooting and the investigation is still ongoing.

"We don't know if this was just a random act or whether it was a domestic situation," Craft said.

Upon hearing the news of this very tragic shooting, celebrities, including Sam Smith and Trainwreck star Amy Schumer herself, went on Twitter to express their concern and condolences. "ANOTHER shooting. What is happening. So sad. Thoughts are with the family's of those injured and killed x," the singer expressed.

Our thoughts are also with the injured and the families of those killed.
