Sam Smith Cancels Australian Tour Due to Vocal Cord Hemorrhage

With Sam Smith's hectic schedule, rest is hard to come by. The demanding performance dates have caught up with him and, unfortunately, his voice.

The "Stay With Me" crooner had to cancel his Australian tour on doctor's orders due to a hemorrhage in his vocal cords.

Sam revealed the sad news on Instagram Tuesday (April 28).

“I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans I have to cancel my Australian tour,” he wrote. “I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small hemorrhage on my vocal cords. The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal cords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge, long-term issue.”

While fans will surely understand he really needs to rest, the singer knows that it will also disappoint them. “I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am,” he apologized. “We will be announcing re-arranged dates very shortly.”

And if you were wondering how he really feels about it, he ended the message by writing, "This kills me."

The four-time Grammy Award winner didn't state how long he'd actually have to be on bed rest. However, we are glad that he is taking these precautions to take care of his voice. The Lollapolooza lineup was recently announced, which features the crooner performing at that festival this summer. Then there's all of the other events he is slated to attend.
