Salaam Remi, Akon Perform ‘One in the Chamber’ on ‘The Tonight Show’

Jay Leno may be on his way out of ‘The Tonight Show’ (Jimmy Fallon is taking his place in February), but at least he’s trying to go out on a good note when it comes to musical guests. Akon and Salaam Remi took the late night show’s stage to perform their collaboration, ‘One in the Chamber.’

Akon takes the spotlight in an outfit seemingly inspired by ‘The Matrix’ as he gives a solid performance while Salaam backs him by performing the song’s bass line in formal wear. There’s a string ensemble to back the two up for one of Jay Leno’s ‘Tonight Show’ final performances.

Digital copies of Salaam Remi’s debut album, ‘One: In the Chamber,’ are available on iTunes now. The physical copy hits stores March 24. However, before that date arrives Salaam will head to the Grammys on Jan. 26 to see if he wins Best Urban Contemporary Album. He competes with Mack Wilds, Rihanna, Tamar Braxton and Fantasia in the category.
