Sade Isn’t Interested in Collaborating With Drake
The marriage between hip-hop and R&B has done wonders for artists over the years. Unfortunately, British soul singer Sade says the concept isn’t something she’s ready to commit to. Rapper Drake, who was very optimistic about the possibility of working with Sade on his upcoming album, ‘Thank Me Later,’ will now have to face the reality that the collaboration won’t happen anytime soon.
Drake told MTV last month, “The melody she [Sade] chooses to use and her voice, it has that dark, sexy feel that a lot of my music has. Hopefully there will be a great Drake and Sade record for the people to listen to, and hopefully it’ll be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.” So much for wishful thinking.
In a recent interview Sade was asked about rumors of her working with the Canadian born rapper. “I don’t think they have contacted me,” she told Canada’s National Post. “I’ve never collaborated because I’ve always avoided working outside my safety zone. I can be exactly who I am and can fail or succeed within the moment. I feel safe working like I do. I wouldn’t want to work in a situation where I am expected to deliver, because I think I wouldn’t deliver.”
In related news, after a ten year hiatus Sade released her sixth album ‘Solider of Love’ on Feb. 8. She is set to perform on the Wanda Sykes Show this Saturday.
