RZA said that he should've been more watchful over Azealia Banks at actor Russell Crowe's Beverly Hills hotel party. If you recall, the Broke With Expensive Taste rapper was the Wu-Tang legend's plus one at the shindig, where a huge and much-talked-about melee ensued.

According to Banks, Crowe was "holding court" at the party, making jokes and some lighthearted cracks. Afterward, the Harlem rhymer said she shot a few playful insults back, and that's when things went awry.

The 25-year-old also said she was choked and spat upon and was on the receiving end of some racial slurs. Others at the party, however, said Banks started the whole thing and changed the story once she spoke to the public.

While speaking to the New York Post, RZA said if he would've known Banks was so volatile and had mental issues, he would've protected her more. By Banks' own admission she suffers from bipolar disorder.

"If I had known that she had mental issues I would have tried to keep a father type of eye on her at the party," he stated. "I didn't know."

The producer and director then said the incident could have to do with Banks' age, and in a few years from now she could be a different person entirely.

"They say you don't get that sense of humility until you're 25," he said. "I don't know if that's true, but when I was that age I was probably a little crazier too. Maybe she's just got to get over that hump."

At this point, Crowe has yet to speak out publicly about the incident, and RZA said he's no longer interested brokering a record deal for Banks.
