The popularity of sneakers makes them the perfect platform for raising awareness to noteworthy causes. New York-based retailer RISE has teamed up with Puma to do just that. They've created a very special shoe in an effort to continue the conversation about HIV/AIDS and hopefully spark a wider movement.

The Puma Blaze of Glory model serves as the conduit for the powerful message behind the "New York Is For Lovers" pack and it does a more than adequate job of inspiring. A red leather upper is grounded by black accents while 3M hearts on the heel help us to reflect on the lives of those affected by the disease. An AIDS Ribbon dubrae completes the look while the "NYIFL" stamp is embossed along the upper as well.

If you love the sneaker, you may want to cop some pieces from the accompanying apparel collection as well. There's a T-shirt, a hoodie and jogger pants (with zippers at the ankle) to match the kicks.

In addition, Puma and RISE are donating $15,000 to amFAR as well as using this release to inspire a conversation about HIV/AIDS.

If you’re down for the cause, head over to RISE's pop-up store today, Dec. 1, aka World Aids Day, and cop a pair for $145. Any remaining pairs will be available at RISE's online store on Dec. 2.
