Rihanna ‘You Da One’ Video Under Fire for Stolen Ideas
Looks like Rihanna is in the hot seat again for allegedly stealing another artist's work for one of her music videos. The 23-year-old 'Talk That Talk' songstress' visuals for 'You Da One,' directed by Melina Matsoukas, bears a striking resemblance to fashion photographer Solve Sundsbo's images.
The Huffington Post reports that a scene in the video is taken directly from one of Sundsbo's photos. During a shot -- seen at the 50-second mark -- where the tattooed singer appears in a nude body suit and blunt cut bob wig, black-and-white shapes move and groove over her body, some forming polka dot patterns, others in vertical lines.
Sundsbo's original idea using the same features was put on display in 2008, for Numero 93 magazine that can be viewed here. The lighting, pattern projections and model's haircut in the photos are similar to scenes used in Rihanna's 'You Da One' video.
Rihanna has yet to respond to the allegations.
Earlier this year, the Bajan entertainer was sued by photographer David LaChapelle for depictions of his that appeared without his consent in the Melina-directed clip for 'S&M.' A settlement was reached outside of court.
