Rihanna is trying her hand at acting again. The singer is set to star in the sci-fi film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Although it's unknown what role the Loud creator will play in the upcoming movie, the director, Luc Besson, is certainly ecstatic about it -- and promises she'll have a large role.

"RIHANNA is in VALERIAN!!!!! ....and she has a big part!! I'm Sooo excited!!!" he wrote in a post on his Instagram page, which can be seen below.

There's little wrong that the Bajan beauty can do but her acting skills haven't been fully explored just yet -- especially since she had only a few lines in her 2012 debut filmBattleship. Since then, she's lent her voice to the Dreamworks animated film, Home, and had a small role in 2014's Annie.

The new project marks the third sci-fi film the 27-year-old is attached to. According to IMDb, the space tale will follow a "time-traveling agent Valerian" to "investigate a galactic empire" alongside his partner, Laureline, played by Paper Towns' Cara Delevingne. The title role will be played by The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Dane DeHaan.

Besson is also a well-known director, celebrated for his 1997 sci-fi adventure film, The Fifth Element. He's also largely responsible for the Taken series before directing and writing 2014's Lucy.

The Rihanna Navy will have to wait awhile before seeing their favorite singer on the big screen. The movie is still in pre-production and is slated to be released in July 2017.
