Betty White's 'Saturday Night Live' appearance may have garnered impressive ratings for Lorne Michaels' sketch comedy show, but it was Rihanna and Andy Samberg's 'Shy Ronnie' skit that's been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. Rihanna plays herself in the digital short and attempts to record a public service announcement music video alongside Samberg's "Shy Ronnie" character.

The SNL skit, which aired in December, was a viral hit, and received the nod along with the songwriters and producers who created Original Music in HBO's new series 'Treme,' 'Rescue Me,' Fox's animated comedy 'Family Guy,' 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Monk.' We'll have to wait and see if Rihanna and Shy Ronnie come out on top when the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards airs live on August 29, but until then check out the short after the jump.
