Rick Ross, Dr. Dre: Producer Working on Album, Rapper ‘Anal’ About Project

If the success of Rick Ross‘ ‘Rich Forever’ mixtape is any indication of the quality of music that will come out of his fifth studio album ‘God Forgives, I Don’t,’ the Miami rapper will not disappoint. The project was definitely good enough to be released as an album and has been downloaded nearly a million times on Datpiff.com, but Ross — whose net worth is estimated at $20 million — didn’t feel the need to reap any monetary benefits from the mixtape.

“Really, it’s just all about the love of the sport,” Ross, 36, tells The BoomBox. “I’m finally in a position financially where I didn’t feel the need to [sell a mixtape], but I wanted to [still release] it. I think that’s what makes things great, that’s what makes things that people could really appreciate. I just wanted to do it for the streets, I just wanted to do it for my supporters for believing in me.”

Whether it was his intention or not, ‘Rich Forever’ serves as an appetizer to the new album. Null of having an official release date, the Maybach Music aficionado has lauded the forthcoming album as some of his best work. “I’m pretty sure that this is my biggest project,” he reveals.

Ross kept fairly quiet about details regarding the LP but did say his collaboration with one of hip-hop’s most sought after producers is among the reasons why the album is moving in the right direction.

“Me getting in the studio with Dr. Dre for the first time as well as the other ideas, concepts that are put into the project,” the ‘Stay Schemin’ creator states. “I’m really being extremely anal about everything with this album and I’m excited.”

With his health back on track after suffering two seizures last year, Ross has no intentions of slowing down and will drop two albums this year. Add the already heavy workload to a record label roster that’s looking stronger and stronger everyday, 2012 is shaping up to be a big year for Maybach Music.
