Rich Homie Quan – ‘Another Me’

Liz Barclay, Complex

With his raspy voice and knack for crafting a catchy hook (see: ‘Type of Way‘), the comparisons between Rich Homie Quan and Future are inevitable. The upstart ATLien addressed the topic in a recent interview with Hot 97, but now he takes to wax to deflect any talk of biting another man’s style.

On ‘Another Me,’ Quan takes the most direct approach possible, even slipping in a sly dig against Ciara’s new man: “Can’t help how I sound but it can’t be no another me/ And I feel that’s not fair to us/ I’m the future, stop comparing us/ It can’t be no another me/ Okay now him and me are not equal/ I got to show these people,” he raps.

Quan’s ‘Type of Way’ may have emerged as the surprise contender for song of the summer, even sparking rumors of a possible remix featuring Drake, but this might be a case of one young homie getting ahead of himself.
