The 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards was held in Miami over the weekend and one of the most talked about moments at the ceremony was “The Cypher” segments.

One of the cypher sessions featured three formidable female MCs -- Rapsody, Leikeli47, Tokyo Jetz and Kash Doll. Arguably, Rapsody had the standout lyrical performance in the cypher.

Reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar’s blistering Cypher performance in 2013, the North Carolina rhymer minced no words on who the best MC is. Over EPMD’s “You’re A Customer” beat, Rapsody looks straight into the camera, and proclaims, “I’m better than all y’all / I been better than all y’all / I’m M.J., Kobe, K.D., and ‘Bron in one, while y’all talkin’ LaVar Ball.”

The Jamla artist name drops her management team Roc Nation, the late Prodigy of Mobb Deep and the recently freed O.J. Simpson. Rapsody also saluted fellow female rappers Cardi B and Young M.A but warns, not to treat her kindness for weakness.

“Go JamRoc / F--- ‘Best Female,’ I’m comin’ for your top spot / Top five, top two n----s grabbin’ they crotch / Feelin’ insecure / Hi Issa Rae / King crowned by queens, shout to 9th, [Young] Guru and Jay,” she spits.

Overall, if you are sleeping on Rapsody, please wake up. Go cop her new album, Laila’s Wisdom. It’s worth its weight in lyrical gold.

The 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards will air on Tuesday (Oct. 10) at 8PM ET.
