The Memphis hip-hop community is mourning the loss of 21-year-old up-and-coming rapper Chrishun 'Rapstar' Moore, who died on Dec. 30, 2011, after suffering an apparent heart attack.

The Memphis native opened for Chris Brown, Young Jeezy, Bow Wow, Plies and many others, and was a respected member of the local music community, but his career was sadly cut short just before the new year.

While not much more is known about the young rapper's passing at this time, Moore's friends and fellow artists have released an outpouring of support for his family via Twitter and Facebook.

"I'm in such shock right now," rapper Miscellaneous mourned. "Don't let [Rapstar] passing be in vain, we should all take this as a wake up call for us all to get a relationship with your creator like our beloved young brother was starting to do."

A memorial service took place in Moore's honor at Twice As Nice Tattoos & Piercings on Thursday (Jan. 5), and his wake will be held later today at N.J. Ford and Sons Funeral Home, with a service on Saturday (Jan. 7), at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Donations may be made for the rapper's family and children. For more info, click here.
