If you were planning to see R. Kelly at the 2014 Fashion Meets Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio during Labor Day weekend, you might want to make other plans. Organizers of the event pulled the R&B star from the lineup as the headliner after city locals, as well as other acts taking part in the festival, complained about the singer's involvement.

It's been six years since the Chicago native was acquitted of child pornography charges, but many believe he shouldn't be allowed to perform, especially at concerts that are family-friendly. Once other artists said they wouldn't play on the same stage with Kellz and a local radio station pulled its sponsoring, the crooner was given the boot.

"There was a lot of back and forth on the criticism we did receive, but then also looking at [Kelly] as an artist," said one of the organizers. "Then truly the last few weeks... the festival has taken a lot of heat, and we really just wanted to listen to Columbus and really take a stance and move forward."

Kelly's team also sent out a statement: "R. Kelly is sorry to disappoint his fans, but looks forward to seeing them in the near future during on of his upcoming tours."

Michelle Williams was also listed as the headliner for the concert. The songstress seems to still be involved as her image appears as part the lineup on the event's official website.

The 2014 Fashion Meets Music Festival will take place Aug. 29 to Aug. 31. For more information on the fest and to get tickets, visit the website here.
