Michael Jackson and R. Kelly had a storied relationship with one another throughout the years, with Kelly helping MJ pen several tracks. And, who can forget the wonderful footage of Jackson bouncing in the back of a car to 'Ignition (Remix)'?

Well, Kelly is paying tribute to the King of Pop with a new version of his uplifting Jackson classic 'You Are Not Alone.' The track will appear as a bonus cut on the Pied Piper's upcoming 'Love Letter' LP. Many are unaware that Kelly actually wrote and produced the song for Jackson upon its original release on his 'HIStory' album in 1995.

"In loving memories of my hero, MJ, forever," says Kells over some intense synthesizers before breaking into a modern take on the highly positive torch song. The track highlights an optimistic, everyman side of R. Kelly that rarely pops up nowadays. Other than his opening performance at the recent World Cup in South Africa, Kells has stuck with his unique brand of sexualized, soap opera-tinged R&B for the last few years.

'Love Letter' hits stores and digital retailers on Dec. 14. Check out the song here.
