The mystery behind Prince's death continues to unfold as Minnesota Police continue to investigate the moments before he was pronounced dead on April 21.

According to Minneapolis Star-Tribune, a source close to the investigation says the late music icon had Percocet in his system when he died at Paisley Park. However, it's unclear if the opioid contributed to Prince's death.

Most recently, Dr. Howard Kornfeld, a California-based physician and addiction treatment specialist, was reportedly scheduled to visit the singer at Paisley Park the day after Prince died. The claims prompted the Drug Enforcement Agency and the U.S. Attorney's Office to sign on to the case.

Kornfield couldn't make it to see Prince and sent his son, Andrew, to attend to Prince instead. Andrew's voice can be heard on the 911 call made to alert authorities of Prince's death. Andrew allegedly had pills in his possession and could potentially face charges.

Despite many of Prince's affiliates claiming they never saw the guitar genius take drugs, since he died rumors have insinuated that drugs could have played a role in his death. The New York Times look into Prince's past revealed that he could have been hiding an escalating addiction.

The results from Prince's autopsy could take weeks. In the meantime, the late guitarist's siblings attended a hearing on Monday (May 2) to determine how the iconic musician’s assets will be handled.
