A New York City law firm is raining on the Purple One's parade. Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler has filed a $700,000 suit against Prince in legal fees for cases in California, New York and Ireland. Additionally, the firm alleges that while he has paid $125,000 so far, he still owes the firm a substantial sum in legal fees for helping to settle financial discrepancies with his ex-wife.

The suit claims that Prince, whose real name is Prince Rogers Nelson, has balked on payments despite several requests. "Nonetheless, the Nelson Parties have failed to pay an additional $708,687.04 due to PBWT," the suit asserts. "PBWT has repeatedly but unsuccessfully requested payment from the Nelson Parties."

The law firm has previously represented him in high profile cases, including a suit filed by a perfume company against Prince after he failed to promote his scent '3121.' They also helped settle suits over canceled concerts and represented Prince when NBA player Carlos Boozer sued him for redecorating the Hollywood abode Prince was renting from him for $70,000 a month.

Prince most recently wrapped up the East Coast leg of his 'Welcome 2 America' tour, which included several gigs at New York City's Madison Square Garden as well as East Rutherford, New Jersey's Izod Center.
