The NYPD's Bomb Squad was called to Jay Z's 40/40 club in New York City after a suspicious object considered to be an explosive was discovered outside of the venue early Tuesday morning (Oct. 21).

Police sources tell the New York Daily News that the device, which was found in a phone booth near the restaurant's Flatiron District location, had "a flashing light with wires attached to two pieces of wood."

The Bomb Squad team are on the scene and have X-rayed the booth but the investigation is still ongoing. Traffic was allowed to pass by but the sidewalk was closed to pedestrians.

Tzvi Twersky, an editor at Slam magazine, captured a photo of the NYPD bomb squad truck as police officers surveyed the area. "25th street is closed between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Someone planted a fake bomb outside Jay Z's 40/40 club," Twersky wrote.
