Pill is having a pretty eventful year. After inking a deal with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group in February, the Atlanta rapper has landed a role in the film '96 Minutes.'

The upcoming independent film is based on a series of true events, and follows the individual stories of four students whose lives become tangled in the midst of a car-jacking.

Pill told Billboard that he will play a character by the name of Rodger in the film, and revealed that he was put through a normal auditioning process to snag the role. "I actually got a real role that I auditioned for," he said. "I'm always working. I make sure I'm always doing something to elevate myself or prepare myself for superstardom."

He will appear in the movie alongside lead actors Brittany Snow, Christian Serratos, Evan Ross and Elena Varela.

The ATL rapper -- real name, Tyrone Rivers -- is also set to appear in an upcoming short film that will be written and directed by G.O.O.D. Music rapper CyHi Da Prynce. Along with CyHi, Pill and rapper Alley Boy will play the lead characters.

Pill has released three mixtapes to date, including the most recent, 2010's 'The Overdose,' but has yet to release his debut album.

There is currently no release date for '96 Minutes.'
