You can add another title to Pharrell's resume: Doctor.

The gifted producer, singer, rapper and designer received an honorary doctor of fine arts degree from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he served as an artist residence a couple of years ago.

Pharrell also gave this year's commencement speech, where he praised the current generation for involving themselves in social change, especially as it pertains to women's rights.

"Your generation is unraveling deeply entrenched laws, principles and misguided values that have held women back for far too long and therefore have held us back," he said. "Imagine the possibilities when women are not held back. The world that you will live in will be a lot better. This is the first generation that navigates with the security and confidence to treat women as equals."

The doctorate is the second honor given to the Neptune in recent months—he received France's Officier des Arts et des Lettres Award just a short time ago. Watch his commencement speech below.
