Pharrell Launches Teen-Targeted Site
N.E.R.D. frontman and producer Pharrell Williams has extended his grasp within the media industry to include a brand new website geared toward teenagers. Kidult.com has already gone live and features edited, as well as user-generated, content on trending topics ranging in sports, fashion, politics and entertainment.
In a press release, Williams described Kidult as a “reliable news source that speaks directly to teenagers.” Teens can catch up with their favorite celebrities through Q&As, keep up with Obama’s latest healthcare initiatives and stream the latest music videos. In an effort to appeal to young adults, the site features unique segments like the “Cool Job” feature, which documents hip professionals in the industry. Current features include interviews with a creative executive at Warner Bros. and a sci-fi writer. Pharrell teamed up Latina magazine editor-in-chief Mimi Valdes to launch the project. The pair will speak at the upcoming Kidult Youth Leadership Conference, which will be held in New York City on June 26.
