PARTYNEXTDOOR Does Things His Way at Irving Plaza in New York City [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]

A Sunday night (March 1) in New York City is usually reserved for relaxation and mentally preparing for the work week ahead, but not when PARTYNEXTDOOR is in town. The R&B singer sprinkled his sonic magic throughout the air for a sold-out crowd at Irving Plaza on the Big Apple stop of his PND Live World Tour.

Before OVO Sound’s preeminent artist stepped foot onstage, Amir Obe, a Detroit-bred rapper residing in Brooklyn, was given the daunting task of grabbing the attention of the crowd, which likely had never heard his music. While DJ Austin Millz helped him out as far as stage presence goes, Obe held his own, performing songs off his Detrooklyn mixtape like "Detroit Cartier" and "9 Milli." "Come smoke with a killa," he rapped on "Drugs & Cam'ron" before letting the packed house know they'd remember that hook before he was even finished.

When the man of the hour finally hit the stage around 9:40 p.m., after chants of "PARTY, PARTY, PARTY" echoed throughout the venue, the vibe was set with two light fixtures (changing to different hues to celebrate his PNDCOLOURS EP) and a white screen that would showcase calming images of doves, palm trees, water and sunsets. He kicked off his set with an appropriate number, "Welcome to the Party," which was met by a word-for-word sing-along from fans of the Canadian native.

"If you made it to this room tonight, you mean the world to me, I promise you. This is the definition of the ground up and everybody in this room is day one," the 21-year-old told the crowd after removing his stunner shades. A black jacket and his signature “Ferina” beanie completed the look for the night.

He moved through more than 20 songs during his performance, delivering his brand of moody, sex-drenched lyrics from his self-titled effort, PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO and COLOURS. "I just want you guys to feel me on this one," PARTY stated before singing the stress-reliever "Muse." He jumped into the crowd for the mellow track "Persian Rugs" and brought one lucky lady onstage to serenade her with "Let's Get Married." He even popped some champagne (with the over 21 set) before the bedroom banger "SLS."

His hour-long set included a brief intermission (a bathroom break, perhaps), but his return signaled the party was still going strong. "Shout out to all the guys who brought a girl. I gotta shout you out," PARTY stated before the sounds of "Options" burst through the speakers. The blippy tone of "Don't Worry," sans Ca$h Out," followed as a deep red illuminated the stage and dizzying white lines flashed on the screen. He saved his most popular hit for last with "Recognize," which didn't produce Drake to magically appear, but hands were up recording the moment with camera phones nonetheless and swaying to the sounds of PARTY's mood-enhancing voice.

"New York, thank you guys for coming out and rocking with me tonight. This is my first world tour. I appreciate you guys," the savvy producer expressed before exiting to stage left. A sold-out show for PARTYNEXTDOOR is proof his ascension in the music industry is off to a promising start. One thing he hasn't lost during his climb to the top: his manners.
