"Heal yourself first," was Oprah Winfrey's charge to R&B/pop diva Rihanna. The media mogul delivered the message during Friday's live broadcast of her show.

"You need somebody to tell you the truth in this moment. And the truth is guys, both Chris Brown and Rihanna, if I were your friend, I would call you up and I would say 'Give it some time, get yourself some counseling, take care of yourself, heal yourself first'," Winfrey said.

The 55-year-old talk show host, who's been hailed as the world's most influential and powerful women, continued her speech by passionately professing that "love doesn't hurt." "I've been saying this to women for years -- love doesn't hurt. And if a man hits you once, he will hit you again. He will hit you again. I don't care what his plea is, he will hit you again.'"

Brown appeared in court on Thursday to face charges for the alleged assault against girlfriend Rihanna. The 19 year-old singer was charged with felony assault and making criminal threats before actually appearing in the Los Angeles courtroom. He did not enter a plea and is due back in court for arraignment on April 6. Rihanna was not present at the hearing, but reports claim the pair have reconciled. The singer's lawyer appeared on her behalf and stated that she would testify if required to do so.
