There are a handful of models that can be considered a cornerstone of Nike’s success and the Cortez is by and far one at the top of the list. In recognizing this landmark in fitness fashion they are re-issuing the look as it was first seen in 1972 thusly bringing it back to the level of greatness it once lived at.

If you do the math, the Nike Cortez 72 is approximately 43 years old and from the looks of this release it has aged exceptionally well. The sneaker giant has decided not to tamper with it’s clean look by using the original materials and colorway to remind us all that iconic sneaks don’t need to adjust to the times. It’s almost a shame that these weren’t out earlier in the summer but we’ve still got a few warm days left to rock them.

You’ll be able to cop this kicks on Sept. 24 at NikeLab retailers as well as their online shop. If you really want to play unfair you can put them on ice until 2016 and come out swinging next summer.
