Nicki Minaj has sparked a debate on social media over white rappers dominating the iTunes rap charts.

On Saturday (Dec. 16), Minaj posted a photo on her Instagram page of the iTunes rap songs chart and noticed that the top five songs on the list are by white rappers (see above).

As you can see, the leading artists are Eminem, Post Malone, NF, G-Eazy and Lil Pump. All of them are white, which prompted Minaj to write in the caption, “It’s a great time to be a white rapper in America, huh?”

Minaj would later revise her post to congratulate Eminem and Post Malone, two of her favorite artists, she noted. She also added, "It IS a great time to be a white rapper in America. I wanna sign one for my new label. U know anyone? I speak my [motherfuckin'] mind and if [you] don't like it gtfo my page dick rida."

Minaj later posted a 2014 J. Cole interview with Angie Martinez where he spoke about how jazz, originally a black art form, became commercialized by white artists. With white rappers dominating the rap charts one would have to think that hip-hop is now becoming hip-pop or pop-rap.

Minaj wrote a lengthy missive on her IG page, slamming people who were offended by her remarks about white rappers. She also made it clear that she wasn't hating, but only making an observation.

“Whenever a black woman speaks on anything she’s labeled as mad, angry or bitter," she wrote. "I’m blessed and highly favored thanks to my amazing fans, but I’ll speak on whatever the f**k I want to, whenever the f**k I want to.”

Fellow rapper Wale supported Nicki Minaj's posts on Instagram. "I see no lies...white artist songs are instantly pop" songs and not urban," he wrote. "Miguel got to be 'urban' Sam Smith can be 'pop' with the same exact song. Nobody wanna say it tho because of the backlash."

Meanwhile, Post Malone, who has been criticized for appropriating hip-hop culture, "liked" her post and followed her back.
