Nicki Minaj Reveals New Halloween Costume Idea

Nicki Minaj is widely known both for her countless rhyming personalities and her eclectic style of dress. Never one to follow anything other than the beat of her own drum, the rapper reveals that while everyone else will be dressing in costumes for Halloween, she'd rather go the opposite route. "I'm going to be an understated Nicki Minaj," the Queens native tells The BoomBox.

The wig-wearing MC previously announced she'd take on Lil Wayne's look on Oct. 31, but it's not likely the avant-garde fashionista will be "trick or treating" this holiday -- she'll probably be playing dress-up for another surprising cover shoot like that of her latest one. In the new issue of W magazine, the 'Super Bass' creator transforms into different historical women, including Jeanne Bécu and Jeanne Antoinette Poisson of France, who were both mistresses of King Louis XV in the late 1700s.

"I wanted to play with the public image of a female hip-hop star. During my entire career, I have always been fascinated by powerful women in history," says famed artist Francesco Vezzoli, who turned Minaj into works of art for the shoot. "I have spent a lot of time researching the ways they were represented in art and how their images were used to mold the public imagination―and to convey aesthetic and philosophical ideas about beauty and sexual desire. My main interest has been to link the historical artistic approach to female representation to contemporary icons of the media era."

When she's not covering magazines, Young Money's favorite Barbie has been busy racking up more accolades for her 'Pink Friday' LP. She recently scored two American Music Awards nominations and will compete against her boss and mentor Lil Wayne in the Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Album categories. The AMAs are set to air live on Nov. 20 at 8PM EST.
