Last week, the internet was buzzing after billboards surfaced in New York and Los Angeles flashing the number 4:44. Initially, it sparked fan theories that Jay Z was dropping a new album. That was later debunked when Tidal released a trailer of an upcoming NC-17 film of the same name, which starred Academy Award-winning actors Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o as well as veteran actor Danny Glover.

But HipHopDX is reporting that posters have popped up in Los Angeles with Jay Z’s name above the “4:44” and the date 6.30.17. The ad also says “Exclusively on sprint.tidal.com.”

So is Hov really dropping a new album? It’s possible.

Four years ago, the rap mogul pulled the same move with his Magna Carta Holy Grail album, which was released exclusively on Samsung. So it’s not out of the question for Jay to release a project exclusively on Tidal and Sprint customers. Also, keep in mind that the streaming service partnered with Sprint for $200 million.

We don’t know how the minute-long trailer featuring Mahershala Ali fits in, but it could be the video or short film of Jay’s first single.

We are not going to do anymore speculation. We will have to just wait and see what Hov has up his sleeve.

A new Jay Z album would be icing on an otherwise glorious cake.
