The imminent shift in weather finds us all bracing to bundle up but New Balance has fully embraced the coming cold and used it as inspiration for their latest set of releases. They've added new colorways to the Made In USA Distinct and Connoisseur Collections that were designed with the ski slopes in mind.

This go round they used the glory days of skiing as inspiration and drew on the rich history of the sport to serve as a palette for a few colorways. Today we take a look at two pair from the offering and either is a viable option for rocking off the slopes. The New Balance 996's steel grey upper and Horween leather heel tab for a feel that implies a set of vintage ski's while the New Balance 997 goes with a more vibrant red, white and blue theme that is reminiscent of skiwear including sweaters and jackets.

Not all of us are action sports daredevils so it's good to know that we can represent for all of the real rippers out there who will be tearing up the slopes this year. Both pair are available now at select New Balance retailers including Rise45.
