Rapper Nelly became the victim of burglary Friday (Dec. 11) following a break in of his mansion near St. Louis, Missouri. According to police the suspect is described as a black male in his 20s or 30s with a mustache and glasses. The intruder got away with a duffle bag full of electronics and video games and is currently on the run from authorities.

Rick Eckhard, spokesperson for the St. Louis County police department said that the man got into the house through an open window and is believed to have escaped by car. Although Nelly was not at home at the time, one of the three people in the home confronted the robber before he got away.

This event comes just one week after the St. Louis native announced plans to give back to his community by way of the Black and White Scholarship Fund. While hosting the fourth annual Black and White ball in St. Louis, Nelly revealed the names of two young people chosen to receive a full scholarship to attend nearby Lindenwood University. Additionally Nelly encouraged guests to donate to the scholarship fund. Celebrities in attendance included super-producer Jermaine Dupri and singer Mario.
