In 2014, adidas Originals will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stan Smith sneaker, their best-selling shoe in the company’s history. With 40 million pairs sold so far, adidas is planning a big rollout next year. Japanese clothier NEIGHBORHOOD is the first to get involved and has teamed up with the Three Stripes to remix the classic tennis shoe.

NEIGHBORHOOD’s Shinsuke Takizawa has designed this brown and tan version of the all-white Stan Smiths, which features writing on the toebox and back heel. The brand's skull and crossbones emblem is on the tongue, which replaces Stan Smith’s face.

While we appreciate the flip of the classic silhouette, we're frowning at the writing on the toebox.

Nevertheless, it’s a great looking shoe to be paired with shorts or chino pants -- perfect for spring and summer stunting.

The NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Originals Stan Smith CL sneaker will arrive in early 2014 at the brand’s luxury stores with a price tag of $160. You can also cop them online at their webstore.
