While sensitive singer Ne-Yo may seek to uplift and empower women with his lyrics, that doesn't mean he doesn't have "an ugly side." In an interview with U.K. magazine more!, the 'Miss Independent' crooner, who recently had a daughter with erstwhile girlfriend Monyetta Shaw, revealed that he has been guilty of infidelity in the past, and can understand why men make mistakes in relationships.

"Talking about men cheating, I have to say, each to their own. I can't just say they're all bad as I've been guilty of it myself," Ne-Yo candidly explained. "There are times when I know I'm not the nicest person, when I know what I'm doing is wrong. But then sometimes you have to figure out what's really important to you. There are times when I get upset, there's an ugly side to me -- it's not all smiles."

While Ne-Yo has described his relationship with his baby's mother as purely platonic, referring to Shaw as merely a "friend" who "knows I can't commit," becoming a father appears to have marked a major change in the 31-year-old.

"I've been in love before, but this feels like nothing I've ever felt," he said of his 8-month-old daughter Madilyn. "It's like being in love for the first time."

Ne-Yo is currently hard at work on his aptly titled fifth album, 'Love and Passion,' which is scheduled to hit stores in September.
