Ne-Yo is about to get animated with his music. The singer/songwriter has contributed the new song 'Never Knew I Needed' to the soundtrack to the forthcoming Walt Disney movie, 'The Princess and The Frog.'

According to reports, the Las Vegas native will also shoot an accompanying video for the song in the coming weeks. The clip will be directed by Melina, who has helmed videos for Beyonce, Whitney Houston and Ciara. A snippet of the song can be heard on the soundtrack page on the Walt Disney Records website.

'The Princess and The Frog' is Disney's first animated film with an African-American princess as the principal character. The plot finds a young Princess Tiana (voiced by actress Anika Noni Rose, whose past credits include a role in HBO's 'The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency') meeting frog prince Naveen. After convincing Tiana that he was once human, he asks her to kiss him in order to break the spell. Unfortunately Tiana, instead of breaking the spell, the kiss draws her into the same predicament, turning her into a frog as well. The pair then embark on a journey to find a magician who can break the spell.

Also adding their voice talents to the film are Oprah Winfrey, Angela Bassett, Terence Howard, John Goodman and Keith David.

'The Princess and the Frog' isn't Ne-Yo's only current film foray. The Grammy winner is also beefing up his acting resume with a role in film 'Red Tails,' about the Tuskegee Airman. Additionally, Ne-yo has joined the cast of the upcoming sci-fi war film 'Battle: Los Angeles,' featuring Aaron Ekhart and Michelle Rodriguez.

'The Princess and the Frog' soundtrack is due out November 23, while the film opens in December 11 in U.S. theaters.
