Ne-Yo Heads to Japan, Backup Dancers Refuse to Join Him

While singer Ne-Yo is busy showing some love to his Japanese fans, affected by the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami that hit the country two weeks ago, a few of his backup dancers are still stateside.

According to TMZ, some of the Grammy winner’s dancers opted out of the trip, due to safety concerns. Four unnamed dancers chose to stay behind for fear of being hit by one of the many aftershocks that have terrorized the country in the aftermath of the natural disaster. Due to their decision, the dancers were also dropped from the rest of the tour, which will wrap up in Korea at the end of the month.

Ne-Yo arrived in Nagoya, Japan Saturday (March 19) and is performing a handful of charity concerts, with some of the proceeds benefiting victims of the natural disaster. The 31-year-old has two more shows in the country scheduled for March 22 and 24.

Noted as the worst earthquake in the history of the country, the 8.9 tremor occurred off the coast of Japan Friday, March 11. The quake triggered a tsunami with waves topping 31 feet. According to the National Police Agency, over 8,000 victims have been confirmed dead, while 12,644 people remain missing.
