Nas Says He’ll Send Money Back to Kidnapped Promoter

After a Nas no-show on New Year’s Eve left a promoter and his son “kidnapped” in Angola, Africa, the ‘One Love’ rapper has offered to return his fee, in hopes that the father and son will be returned to the U.S.

TMZ reports
that local “concert impresario” Henrique “Riquhino” Miguel paid Nas and opening act Jemiah Jai $315,000 to perform two shows in Angola on Dec. 31, then held promoter Patrick Allocco and his son at gunpoint, when the artists failed to board their flights.

A source close Nas tells TMZ that the Queens rapper canceled his performance after a “miscommunication” regarding travel plans, and “refuses to shoulder the entirety of the blame,” but would like to return his fee, which he never intended to pocket.

While Nas is currently unclear as to where to send the payment, his team is reportedly working on a solution.

“The hope is that Nas and Jemiah Jai will return all of the monies that were wired to them immediately so that our ransom may be paid and our safe return to the United States may be facilitated,” a statement from a representative for Allocco revealed.

Thanks to the U.S. Embassy, Allocco and his son are currently safely “in residence” at a local hotel until the issue is settled.
