If you haven't seen the Nas documentary, 'Time Is Illmatic,' you don't have to search high and low for it, because it will air on the cable network Showtime this Friday (Dec 12).

The documentary focuses on the making of the Queensbridge rapper's classic 1994 album 'Illmatic' and the life that Nas lived prior to its release. Furthermore, it'll show the making of the album along with accompanying interviews by the producers behind the project.

The legendary rapper himself also gives candid details about what inspired him to create such timeless cuts like 'New York State of Mind' and 'One Love.'

"When I made 'Illmatic,' I was trying to make the perfect album," he said. "It comes from them days of 'Wildstyle.' I was trying to make you experience my life. I wanted you to look at hip-hop differently. I wanted you to feel that hip-hop was changing and becoming something more real."

"I gave you what the streets felt like, what it sounded like, tasted like, smelt like, all in that album," he continued. "I tried to capture it like no one else could."

The Nas documentary, 'Time Is Illmatic,' will premiere on Showtime at 9PM ET on Dec. 12.
