Queens rap legend Nas celebrated his 38th birthday in New York City last night (Sept. 14), with some of hip-hop's biggest names, including former rival Jay-Z and longtime partner AZ.

The 'Nasty' rapper dressed for the occasion in a polka-dotted smoking jacket, black bow tie, Adidas sneakers and shades, and spent the evening partying with recent collaborator Common, New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony, Ne-Yo, Tyson Beckford, DJ Khaled and DJ Premier.

Nas, who shares his birthday with fallen singer Amy Winehouse, took a moment before the fête to recognize his friend, who would have turned 28 that night. "Special shout out and love goes out to a Angel we all lost ... The world lost. A real musician, true artist. Amy Winehouse," he tweeted.

On the music front, the 'Illmatic' creator has several projects currently in the works. He is expected to announce the official title and release date for his forthcoming 10th studio album, tentatively titled 'Life Is Good,' later this month. The video for his street single 'Nasty' is said to be dropping shortly, meanwhile, he has signed a deal to publish his memoir, 'It Ain't Hard to Tell,' which will be penned with journalist Touré, sometime next year.
