N.E.R.D. are joining the Gorillaz entourage. Pharrell and co. will open for the Damon Albarn-fronted band on their Escape to Plastic Beach North American tour. The tour already promises guest appearances from 'Plastic Beach' contributors De La Soul, Little Dragon and Bobby Womack. The Clash's Mick Jones and Paul Simonon are also touring as part of the Gorillaz Plastic Beach band.

N.E.R.D. join the tour two gigs in, at Boston's Agganis Arena on Oct. 6 and will continue to kick things off on the remaining 17 stops. The band will likely sample new tunes from their upcoming album, 'Nothing,' which has been pushed back and refurbished a handful of times already.

N.E.R.D. will warm up for the road at this weekend's MTV Video Music Awards, where they will perform with Ciara.
