Mystikal The Net is currently buzzing about whether or not rapper Mystikal has been released from jail. After pleading guilty to sexual battery and extortion for an incident that occurred in 2002 with his hairstylist, the New Orleans rapper, born Michael L. Tyler was sentenced to six years in prison in 2004. The rapper originally claimed he was innocent, but when a videotape surfaced verifying what happened, he had no choice but to plead guilty.

Then in August of 2005, while still incarcerated he was charged with two federal tax evasion misdemeanors and was sentenced to another year in prison, but was allowed to serve the one-year federal sentence as part of his six-year sentence.

According to a 2007 report from the Associated Press, Mystikal's projected release date from prison is Jan. 14, 2010, but AllHipHop.com says that Mystikal might have already been released last week, while the Web site DjSmallz.com is reporting the rapper is set to depart from jail on Jan. 15.

No official statement from the rapper has been released. In 2004, Mystikal released a greatest hits album called 'The Prince of The South' while incarcerated in an attempt to keep his name alive amongst fans.
