Ever wonder where your favorite stars are seated at an awards show? While we still can't truly figure out the science, photos of the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards seating chart have been released, showing where fan favorites like Chris Brown, Beyonce and Nicki Minaj will be sitting -- and more importantly who they'll be sitting next to -- at the event.

The Huffington Post released a number of photos of the seating assignments, and some may surprise you. First off, how did Sam Smith and Chris Brown end up being next to each other? Does this mean there might be a collaboration in the works? Beyonce, who scored eight nominations at the awards ceremony as well as the Michael Jackson Vanguard award, is shown with her own row, so far. We're wondering where's Jay Z's place card? Does this mean that she's going stag to the awards show on Sunday night (Aug. 24)?

Meanwhile, her Destiny's Child sisters Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams are beside each other, which is behind Maroon 5 and a row in front of Angel Haze. Frequent collaborators 2 Chainz and Juicy J, like on the 'Turn Down for What (Remix),' will be seated together at the awards show while Young Money king Lil Wayne and first lady, Nicki Minaj, will also be sitting side by side.

Iggy Azalea's seat partners are Ariana Grande and Charli XCX, which only makes sense as her collaborations with each of the ladies earned her a Video of the Year nomination for 'Fancy' and Best Collaboration for 'Problem,' respectively. Usher will be seated a few seats away from Jessie J while Childish Gambino is behind Wiz Khalifa.

With all these stars, this year's MTV Video Music Awards is one you don't want to miss. You can catch the show on Sunday at 9PM EST on MTV.
