In an interview with TMZ, Havoc of Mobb Deep spoke for the first time about Prodigy's death.

Havoc said when the news first broke, he didn't believe it.

"We're used to this," he said, speaking of Prodigy's frequent trips to the hospital due to complications with sickle cell, which he'd battled since birth. "I know he's not dead."

He also said he'd checked on Prodigy several times on the phone, since he knew he was hospitalized in Las Vegas, and he thought his condition was improving. So when news broke on Tuesday that Prodigy died, he simply didn't believe it. He thought it was a "weird rumor."

"I was really laughing, to be honest with you," Havoc says.

However, when he called their road manager, and the news was confirmed, the shock and grief were instant. Havoc says he was driving from his five-year-old son's kindergarten graduation when he heard the news.

"I could've crashed with my kids in the car," he said.

He's says he's still processing his longtime friend's death. "I'm still f---ed up. I can't listen."

Prodigy passed away on June 20. He was 42. Watch Havoc's interview above.
