Missy Elliott is dropping gems. The rapper decided to share some of her thoughts on artistry and her own music business experience by using Twitter as a sounding board.

The "Lose Control" rhymer has never been one to use a sexualized image to sell her music. While many female artists have taken that route, Missy has stuck to embracing a unique look, wearing a black garbage bag in videos like "The Rain" and oversized fur coats in "Work It." She slams those that rely on a "sexy look" paired with insecurity, which makes others not want to deal with them. "TRUST!/LOVE/LOYALTY/HUMILITY = is the perfect combination a (sexy look) insecurity cockiness will make ppl not want 2deal wit u," she writes.

She encourages fellow artists to "be original." "I'm A walking testimony! To those who was told they were talented but didn't look the part! be YOU there's many who can relate 2u," she tweets. "Artist make sure there's no1 ppl can compare u 2! Be ORIGINAL! If they say u sound like this 1 u need to do sumfin new."

The veteran, who has been in the game for over two decades, states that she mentors other artists because she wants to see them win. "I've been in this industry 25 yrs I've got grocery bags of receipts. I mentor out of love to bring out da greatness in u," Missy continues.

On the topic of new music, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as it looks like we'll have some fire coming soon. "Lastly pssssst hey I'm coming with dat."

Although the tweets had no target, some fans thought they were subliminal shots toward Nicki Minaj. It's unclear whether there's any truth to this or if it's just internet chatter.
