'Love & Hip Hop' star Mimi Faust experienced major drama when her sex tape with Nikko Smith leaked earlier this year. From lying to her friends to trying to keep the peace with the father of her daughter, Stevie J, it seemed more hassle than it was worth to have 'Scandal in Atlanta' out for public consumption. But the reality TV star is being rewarded for her efforts because the sex tape has been nominated for an AVN award.

The AVN Awards (created by the trade magazine Adult Video News) recognize achievement in pornographic movies. Known as the "Oscars of porn," this is the first year the category of "Best Celebrity Sex Tape" was added to the AVNs, according to TMZ. Faust is nominated along with Tila Tequila, 'Teen Mom' star Farrah Abraham, Myla Sinanaj and 'Pippi Longstocking' actress Tami Erin.

Adult film company Vivid Entertainment released the tape on April 21, 2014, and company founder Steve Hirsch said he didn't even know about the popular reality show when he was first approached. After doing some research, he quickly decided to put it out.

"We were approached by a third party to release the tape," he explained in an interview earlier this year. "I wasn't familiar with Mimi and Nikko or 'Love & Hip Hop.' After doing some research, I realized just how big both the show and the tape could be. It was a struggle to ultimately get the deal done but we did."

Will Mimi's shower scene take home the win? The 2014 AVN Awards take place Jan. 24, 2015, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
