Atlanta trio Migos has taken the world by storm with their buzzing mixtape, 'Y.R.N. (Young Rich N---s' and their song 'Versace,' which Drake jumped on for the remix. This past Wednesday, two of the three members performed for a packed New York City crowd for The Player's Ball at The Westway. The free show was packed the entire night, with plenty of people being turned away at the door by the time Migos took the stage. Migos certainly did not disappoint, performing the remix of 'Versace' sans Drake along with favorites off 'Y.R.N.' such as 'Bando' and 'Hannah Montana.' The group has been receiving a tremendous amount of publicity in the last month, but has had to make the promo run without member Offset, who is currently incarcerated. In the meantime, TakeOff and Quavo have been holding down the fort. Seven months ago, it was another Atlanta artist, Trinidad James, who had a New York City packed to the brim. His first show at NYC's Santos Party House featured an appearance from A$AP Rocky, and repeat performances of his big single at the time, 'All Gold Everything.' Shortly thereafter (or possibly before), James signed a deal with Def Jam. Since the signing, he has not found another single capable of matching the success he received for 'All Gold Everything.' As of now, Migos doesn't appear to be signed to a major label, but that will certainly change soon. Will the group continue their momentum or will they eventually fade away like James did before them? Time will determine that, but until then, watch the group perform 'Versace' below and revel in the ignorance of the moment.
