Strands of Michael Jackson's hair, pocketed on the set of the infamous Pepsi fire/commercial of 1984, have been procured by a Chicago jeweler to be turned into diamonds, according to reports.

The hair was salvaged by Ralph Cohen, executive producer of the Pepsi shoot, who helped Jackson put out the fire and pocketed the remaining locks.

Now, 25 years later, Cohen found the hair in the pocket of the jacket and passed it on to collector John Reznikoff, who then approached the jeweler LifeGem about converting the hair into diamonds.

"The provenance and authenticity of this lock of hair is impeccable, including the highly publicized video showing the original owner of the hair using his Armani jacket to extinguish Jackson's hair," Reznikoff said.

Reznikoff had previously worked with the jeweler to create diamonds out of strands of hair from composer Beethoven, and has collected tresses from Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln and Marilyn Monroe.

"We are currently evaluating the sample to determine how many diamonds can be created," said VandenBiesen. "This will be a limited collection and we anticipate great interest."

Though the bizarre stories related to the King of Pop's death will undoubtedly continue to roll in, we're not sure anything can beat this one.
