Method Man Aims for Classic With New Album, ‘Crystal Meth’

Method Man has high hopes for his upcoming solo album ‘Crystal Meth.’ The Wu-Tang Clan member is currently prepping the release of his fifth studio LP, originally intended to hit stores in 2009, but pushed back to this year. The delays may frustrate fans, but Johnny Blaze explained that he’s taking his time so he can earn his first classic.

“It is what it is; it’s just what it sound like,” he told ‘The Come Up Show.’ “In my opinion, I feel like I fell short a few times with albums, and I want my own personal classic meaning no arguments, no holds barred. Meth killed it. That’s it. That’s all it is.’

And while listeners may be used to the New York rapper touting his love for marijuana, don’t expect him to be dropping green-friendly rhymes on ‘Crystal Meth.’

“When I first came out, I was young. We was doing our thing. We smoked a lot, things of that nature, didn’t care if the world knew,” he explained. “Now, I have to use more discretion because of my kids. This is not for me. Everything I do is for them now, so I use a bit more discretion and I don’t put weed as a forefront anymore.”

Method Man released his last solo album ‘4:21… The Day After’ in 2006, selling upwards of 200,000 copies. His most recent collaboration LP dropped in March 2010, when he, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah put out ‘Wu-Massacre.’
